Demolition and Removal in Hubbard, OH
Hubbard is half old town and half township, and the demolition calls split the same way: a garage on a city lot, a barn or a mobile home on a few acres out toward the state line. Jeff takes both down, hauls the debris and grades the ground back. Farmdale is about 30 minutes north.
Demolition in Hubbard
Two Hubbards, one set of problems
Hubbard sits in the east corner of Trumbull County, against the Pennsylvania line, with Youngstown to the southwest and the Shenango Valley just over the border. The city is an old iron and coal town with tight lots and alleys. Hubbard Township around it is rural, with small acreages, old farmsteads and houses set back on long drives.
In town the building in the way is a detached garage or a shed behind a house from the early 1900s. Out in the township it is a barn, a chicken house, a mobile home that a new house is replacing, or a pole building that a storm got to first. Same machine, different approach to the lot.
The garage behind the old house
Hubbard's older streets have the same pattern as the river towns: a narrow lot, the house near the sidewalk, and a garage at the back reached from the alley or a strip of drive beside the house. Most of those garages predate the cars that are supposed to fit in them, and the roof is usually the first thing to go.
Jeff brings in an excavator sized to the gap, pulls the building down toward the open side and loads it as it comes apart. The slab and footings can come out in the same visit, and the hole is filled and compacted so it does not settle. The utility disconnects any line still run to the garage before anything moves.
Barns, mobile homes and pole buildings in the township
Out on the township roads the buildings are bigger and the access is easier. A barn that has stood empty since the farm was sold comes down in an order that keeps the frame from dropping the wrong way, and the foundation is dug out with it. A mobile home is taken apart, hauled, and the piers or the pad pulled.
Pole buildings that have lost a roof to wind or snow are the awkward ones, because nothing is holding what it looks like it is holding. The excavator does that work from a distance. If the lot has grown up around the building, land clearing across Trumbull County covers the brush on the same trip.
City zoning, county building permits
Inside the city, the City of Hubbard Zoning office at the city building on West Liberty Street is the first call. It will say whether the demolition needs anything filed and what can go back on the lot. For addresses in Hubbard Township, the township zoning office is the first stop instead.
The building side for both runs through the Trumbull County Building Inspection Department, which enforces the county code on demolition and lists tearing down any structure among the jobs that need a permit. Ask before a date is set. Buried lines are marked through OUPS (Ohio 811) before any digging, and Ohio law requires the call; the 811 guide explains how that works on both sides of the state line.
What is not taken down, and why
Houses are not part of this work, and neither is any building that needs asbestos abatement first. Ohio EPA requires a survey by a certified specialist and at least ten working days' notice before demolition at commercial, industrial and public buildings, and before projects that take down several houses together. That is a licensed demolition contractor's job.
Garages, sheds, barns, carports, decks, above-ground pools, mobile homes and the slabs under them are regular work. Which side of the line a building falls on gets said at the first look. The main demolition page lists the whole scope.
Grading, the next job and the price
Trumbull County clay holds water, so the hole left by a foundation or a pool is filled in lifts, compacted and graded with a fall toward the low side of the lot. If the yard was wet before, yard drainage in Hubbard is the next conversation. If the old barnyard is becoming a lane to a new pole building, a gravel drive can be based while the machine is there.
Jeff gives one figure after seeing the building, the way in and what is underneath, with the hauling and the grading in it. Everything else done around town is on the Hubbard page.

Hubbard is the east edge of Ohio, and the same work runs both ways from it. West along Route 62 it is Youngstown and the suburbs, and east across the state line it is Hermitage and Sharon, where the permit office and the 811 center change but the clay does not. North through Brookfield and Vienna is the road back to Farmdale, about 30 minutes, and those townships get the same visit as the city.

Questions people ask
Not seeing yours? Call (330) 625-5754 and ask Jeff, or read the guides.
Do I need a permit to tear down a garage in Hubbard?
Ask the City of Hubbard Zoning office on West Liberty Street first, or the township zoning office if your address is in Hubbard Township. For the building permit itself, the Trumbull County Building Inspection Department lists tearing down any structure among the jobs that need one. Ask before a date is set.
Can you take down a barn out in Hubbard Township?
Yes. Barns, chicken houses and pole buildings on the township roads are regular work. The frame is pulled down with the excavator, the debris sorted and hauled, and the foundation dug out so nothing is left under the grass. Any live line to the barn is disconnected by the utility first.
A storm took the roof off my pole building. Can you finish the job?
Yes. A building that is partly down is more dangerous to take apart by hand than a sound one, so the excavator does it from a distance, in an order that keeps the rest from dropping. Then it is loaded and hauled. If an insurer is involved, Jeff tells you what he found and leaves the paperwork to you.
Will you remove a mobile home so a house can go on the lot?
Yes. The unit is taken apart and hauled, and the pad or piers under it come out. Utilities have to be disconnected first. Once it is gone, the lot is graded for the new foundation, and a gravel drive to it can be based on the same trip.
What does demolition cost in Hubbard?
It depends on the building, what it is on and how the machine reaches it. Jeff looks at it on site and gives one number with the hauling and the grading included. The estimate is free, and Hubbard is regular territory from Farmdale. Call (330) 625-5754.
