Working in Kinsman

Clearing, Mulching & Dirt Work in Kinsman

Logan Earthworks is based in Farmdale, Ohio. Farmdale is a small unincorporated community in the southwest part of Kinsman Township, in the northeast corner of Trumbull County. Kinsman itself sits a little east, where State Route 5 and State Route 7 cross. There is no city or village government out here, just the township, and most of the land is farm, pasture and woods. Logan Earthworks is owner-operated, and you talk to Jeff when you call.

Being local matters for the work. We know how the clay here acts in April and in August. We know brush on a Kinsman fence row is mostly multiflora rose, hawthorn and autumn olive with wild grape over the top. We run a tracked forestry mulcher, a CAT excavator, a dozer and a compact track loader, and we do not have far to come to look at your job. See our Trumbull County land clearing page for the wider area.

Farm ground, fence rows and old pasture

Kinsman Township is working country. The common jobs are fence rows that have crept out into the field, pasture nobody has grazed in years, and lanes that need opened to a back woodlot. Our forestry mulching machine takes brush and small trees down to mulch in one pass and leaves the soil alone. That matters on ground you plan to graze or hay again. A tractor mower stops at stems a mulcher walks through. We leave the oaks and hickories you want for shade.

Ponds and wet ground near Pymatuning Creek

The clay under Kinsman and Farmdale holds water, which is a nuisance in a yard and a gift for a pond. Pymatuning Creek, a state wild and scenic river, runs down this corner of Trumbull County on its way to Shenango Lake in Pennsylvania, and there is a lot of low ground along it. We dig new ponds, clean up and reshape banks, and cut swales and ditches to move water off fields and yards. Before you site a pond, talk to the Trumbull Soil & Water Conservation District. Our pond digging page explains how we build one.

Driveways, building pads and the state line

New houses, pole barns and shops out here need a pad on firm ground and a gravel drive that sheds water. We strip the topsoil, cut the grade, set a culvert where the drive crosses the ditch and build up base stone. Kinsman Township touches Pennsylvania on its east side and Ashtabula County on the north, and we work across both lines. Ohio has you contact OHIO811 at least two working days before digging. Pennsylvania has its own one-call rule. A locate request has to be placed before any digging, and we sort out who places it when we look at the job.
