Land Clearing & Excavation in Brookfield, OH
Brookfield is the last township before Pennsylvania. It has farm ground on the north end, neighborhoods by the state line and plenty of wooded, hilly parcels in between. We clear them, grade them and get them ready to use.
Clearing, Mulching & Dirt Work in Brookfield
On the Pennsylvania line, straight across from Sharon, Brookfield Township is the east edge of Trumbull County. Brookfield Center was laid out in 1806 around a green that is still there. Masury fills the southeast corner by the state line, West Hill sits on the east side, and the small village of Yankee Lake is up north. The center of the township is above 1,000 feet, and the ground rolls.
Logan Earthworks is based in Farmdale, north of here in the same county, and Brookfield is close-to-home work. We clear wooded lots and overgrown fields, mulch brush, dig for foundations and utilities, grade yards and build gravel drives. Jeff is owner and operator. He comes out, looks at the job and tells you what it needs. Because we work both sides of the line, our Sharon, PA page may help if your land is over there.
Rolling ground and runoff
Parts of Brookfield have real slope, and slope moves water fast. A lot cleared to bare dirt on a hillside will send mud down to the road ditch or the neighbor below in the first hard rain. So on sloped ground we mulch instead of stripping wherever we can. Where a site has to be dug, we rough grade it right away, cut a swale to catch the runoff and leave it stable. Our grading page explains how we set grades.
Old fields and wooded parcels
Between the open ground on the north end and the houses near Masury there is a lot of in-between land in Brookfield. Fields that were last worked a generation ago are now thorn, olive and young cherry. Wooded parcels are choked with grapevine. Owners want them usable again, for a house, for horses, for hunting or just to see across. A forestry mulcher is the fast way to do that. It grinds the brush in place and leaves the bigger trees, and you can decide later what else comes out.
Working at the state line
Living on a state line means two sets of rules. On the Ohio side, you contact OHIO811 before digging and Ohio EPA's rules cover open burning and construction stormwater. Step across into Mercer County and it is Pennsylvania One Call and the county conservation district. We work in both states and keep track of which is which. For the wider picture, see our Trumbull County and Mercer County, PA pages.

Do you clear land in Brookfield and Masury, Ohio?
Yes. Brookfield Township, including Brookfield Center, Masury and West Hill, is close to home for us. We clear lots and fields, mulch brush, remove hazard trees, grind stumps, grade and build gravel driveways. Call (330) 625-5754 and Jeff will come look at it and give you a free estimate.
Can you clear a sloped lot in Brookfield without causing erosion?
That is the goal on every hillside. We mulch rather than strip when the job allows, which leaves roots and a mulch layer holding the soil. Where digging is needed, we grade as we go and shape swales to slow the water. Bigger building projects may need an erosion control plan, so check with Trumbull Soil & Water.
My property is on the Ohio and Pennsylvania line near Brookfield. Can you work on both sides?
Yes. We work in Trumbull County and in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. The digging notice and erosion rules are different in each state, so we need to know where the line runs. If it is not marked, a surveyor should mark it before clearing starts.
